The Ingenio Risaralda features prevent pollution and improve environmental performance, making the sugar cane crop environmentally friendly, meeting the highest standards required by industry and required by each of the regional corporations that govern us, like the CARDER, CVC and CORPOCALDAS.

The Ingenio Risaralda is governed by environmental standards aimed at preventing impacts on worker health and irreversible changes in the ecosystem. These guidelines include: cultural and biological control of pests and diseases; Reforestation in riverbanks, storage and disposal of agricultural chemicals (ANDI convention - ASOCAÑA) Use of solid waste for conservation and improvement of the physic-chemical qualities of the soil; use and maintenance of agricultural machinery; emergency contingency plans and use of environmental elements of security and safety.

Plan for a Clean Technology

This plan was approved by the CARDER with the Resolution 1693 of November 21, 2007; there are two investment alternatives, the first one is the design, construction and erection of a single boiler with high efficiency emissions treatment, relegating Boiler No. 3 to an emergent system. The second, who is subject to future prices, it´s based on the installation of electrostatic precipitators in the two existing boilers.

Concession and permit for dumping

The concession and permission for dumping was granted by the CARDER in Resolution 1800 of December 4, 2007. The permit is valid for 5 years and which requires a characterization of dumps by an extern entity, the results of this study will form the basis for the recovery of the rate of pay. On the other hand was granted a water concessions of 600 l / s from the Mapa river and 60 l / s from the River Cuba, it should be noted that thanks to the efforts of the Ingenio Risaralda the Mapa´s river basin was among those working zone within the CARDER-ANDI agreement.

Study of Environmental Noise

Was conducted in December 2007, a study of environmental noise in Risaralda to comply with the law. This study was conducted by the supplier “Environmental Analysis” from the city of Cali. The monitoring was carried out in daytime and night-time with the plant in normal operation. The noise measurements were conducted outside the plant in 17 different sampling points.

Reforestation Project IRISA 2007

In the year 2007 we participated in reforestation programs including:

Forestry: another production alternative for the marginal coffee zone.

This project is supported by the Departmental Committee of Coffee Growers of Risaralda, the governor of Cauca, the German KFW Bank, the Ministry of Agriculture and the CARDER.

The Ingenio Risaralda S.A is linked to this project by providing 500 tons of organic fertilizer “Vycompost” for the 5-year project, with a contribution of approximately $ 85,000,000. 5800 trees have been delivered in the native land of the area of influence of the Ingenio Risaralda S.A.

Agreement 056 CVC-ASOCAÑ A "Protective Forest line for the River Cauca"

The objective of this project is "Joining forces, economic and technical resources in order to increase the vegetation cover in the protective belt of the river Cauca. Now, have been planted 8389 trees in protective and silvopastoral systems on land with an area of influence of the Ingenio Risaralda.

Additionally were planted 1960 trees on the Ingenio´s own land, that in order to give effect to resolution 061 of the year 2007 issued by CARDER, which sets guidelines for demarcating the protective forest areas of water sources in the department of Risaralda.

All this gives as a result that in the year 2007 were planted 23,149 trees in the area of influence of The Ingenio Risaralda.
